The Cost of Carrying Too Much
Last night, Mother Nature brought us a freezing winter rain.
I was trudging up the icy steps to my front door with three bags of groceries precariously balanced in my arms.
Instead of setting any of the bags down, my stubborn little Taurus Self started banging the toe of my boot against the threshold—hoping someone inside would sense my discomfort and come rushing to help.
And then… the bottom of one bag gave out. 🤦🏻♀️
Oranges tumbled down the steps.
Blueberries exploded into the snow.
And I laughed.
(Which—side note—wouldnothave been my response three years ago.
Yay for self-growth!)
In that very ordinary moment of classic life calamity, I was reminded how often we unconsciously hold on to everything we’re already carrying—believing it’s the best, maybe even the most efficient, way forward.
But in reality, most thresholds—literalandemotional—require something else entirely.
They require us to put things down; to let go before we enter.
So many of us try to cross life’s thresholds while gripping tightly to what we’ve gathered along the way:
Identities that once felt aligned, but now feel heavy
Relational dynamics that used to work, but have quietly turned harmful
Dreams that aren’t dead, but are asking to evolve
We tell ourselves,“I’ll let go once I’m safely on the other side…”
…but the door never opens that way.
Are you standing at a crossroads right now—in your career, your relationships, or your health journey?
If so, I invite you to pause and reflect:
What parts of you are gripping the baggage you’ve gathered?
Where do these parts live in your body? Can you feel the bracing, the doubt, the fear?
How are these parts trying to protect you, even if their strategies are outdated?
What do they need from your Wise Self in order to loosen their grip?
My private mentorship is where we gently untangle what you’re energetically carrying within your body—and explore what it might feel like to release what’s ready to be released, without fear, collapse, or pressure to “fix” yourself.
Choosing a direction with grounded confidence doesn’t come from forcing clarity. It begins with compassionate listening, a calm nervous system, and a willingness to get creative as you develop your capacity to discern what is yours to hold, cultivate, and let go.
