How to "stay in your body" (when anxiety wants you to disassociate)
Autumn is here!
We are settling into the rhythm of school & sports in my house, and the leaves out my window are beginning to ignite the skyline with their fiery brilliance!
What beauty and wisdom this season has to share ---
The vital import of distillation & letting go; as essential the process of creation & reclamation.
From an embodiment perspective, this requires that we consciously begin
s l o w i n g d o w n.
Personally, this season has been a lot around the remembrance that I AM a body.
And that this body allows me to LIVE!
It's my tongue that allows me to taste both the bitter and the sweet.
It's my arms that shows my children how much I love them and help me lift the heavy load of life.
It's my hands that create poems and love notes and scathing emails to political representatives, as needed.
Our bodies are how we engage with this
“one wild and precious life!”
BUT/AND/ALSO
“Dropping into the body” isn't so simple after you've spent the majority of your adulthood in your mind.
The patriarchal conditioning we've all absorbed lead us to experience our bodies as an object that we must manage, maintain and negotiate value around.
This is a highly toxic and heavy weight to walk around with…and because it is buried deep in the psyche, you can never put it down.
This is why you are burned out AF!
It's not because you are failing or broken.
It's because you've never been taught how to take out that toxic trash out of your deep subconscious.
That's why I am here :)
I teach women how to experience themselves and their bodies through a positive embodiment lens, which always leads to aligned action.
Because when we can locate ourselves IN OUR BODIES, in response to what feels unsafe or triggering, we reclaim our agency & empowerment leadership.
It begins with something as simple as, noticing when you are hungry and responding to that bodily request for nourishment.
Or when you social battery is tanked, perhaps you cancel on plans that are no longer aligned with your energetic capacity in the present moment.
Or when you are enraged for all the reasons we feel angry right now…. Give yourself what you need to metabolize the anger in a healthy way.
It takes practice to uproot the unconscious ways of being because the strategies of hiding our feelings once kept us safe.
A PRACTICE FOR RIGHT NOW:
Invite your mind to follow your breath into your body.
Take 3 deep breathes.
Notice where you breath wants to flow and where it gets stuck.
Then, wiggle your fingers, stomp your feet, roll your neck, massage your shoulders…whatever movement feels yummy.
Repeat as needed :)
With you on this journey,
Love
